The Deputy Registrar, Chief Nursing Officer, Colleague Tutors, Colleagues Of The Noble Profession, Distinguished Ladies And Gentlemen. It Gives Me Much Pleasure To Present The Matriculation Address For The 3rd Batch Of The Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science And Technology Diploma Upgrade Programme For The Nursing And Midwifery Training College, Sekondi.
In The Year 2015, The KNUST In Collaboration With Health Training Institution Secretariat And The NMC Commenced The Upgrade Programme At NMTC, Sekondi.
The First Batch Of The Programme Completed In August 2016 And They Are Now Being Prepared For The Licensure Examination, July/August 2017, Being Organized By The NMC.
The Deputy Registrar, All Protocols Observed, The Introduction Of The Upgrade Programme Has Offered The Auxiliary Nurses In Ghana An Opportunity To Develop Their Career Pathway To Become Professional Nurses In The Nursing And Midwifery Fraternity In Ghana.
The MOH And The NMC Therefore Appreciate The Effort Of The University For Taking Such A Giant Stride In This Direction. By The Introduction Of The Programme, KNUST Has Become The First University To Run The Diploma In Nursing And Midwifery Upgrade Programme In The Country. Relating To That, I Believe It’s A Great Achievement For The University. Thanks To Professor Otoo Ellis And His Strong Willed Team For The Good Job Done, Particularly For The MOH And NMC.
The Deputy Registrar, All Protocols Observed, The Number Of Candidates Admitted For The Diploma In Nursing Upgrade Programme For The 2017/2018 Academic Year Was One Hundred And Forty (140). Out Of This, One Hundred And Twenty-Six (126) Students Reported At The College.
To The Matriculants, On Behalf Of The Management And Staff Of The NMTC, Sekondi, I Welcome You All To The College. Today’s Ceremony Marks An Important Milestone In Your Professional Carrier As It Offers You The Opportunity To Be Initiated Into KNUST As A Student.
My Advice To You Is That, Kindly Appreciate The University For The Opportunity Offered You.
Know The Rights And Rules Of The University And The College.
Understand The Academic Requirements Of KNUST As Well As That Of The College.
Be Focused And Make Good Use Of Every Opportunity That Comes Your Way.

High Electricity Tariffs Due To Increased In The Number Of Electrical Gadgets Used By The Students At The Hostels.
Inadequate Information In The Curriculum Used For The Programme
Refusal Of Some Students To Use The Library And ICT Resource Centre Of The College Etc.
Delay In The Payment Of Fees
THE WAY FORWARD
The College Must Feed All Upgrade Students To Reduce The Use Of Electrical Gadgets At The College
The University Must Review Her Curriculum To Include Some Subjects From The NMC Curriculum. Example, Mental Health, Nursing Informatics, Therapeutic Communication Etc. This Stems From The Fact That, Upgrades Write Licensure Examination Same As The Regular Students.
Students Must Avoid The Use Of The Electrical Gadgets At The Hostels To Reduce The High Electricity Tariffs.
Prompt Payment Of Fees To Enable The College Meet Her Principal Obligations
